Bidjar

Carpets from the Kurdish town of Bidjar have a high reputation for quality. They are made of very high-quality 'cork' wool and feature firm double knotting. One of the specialties of Bidjar carpets is that they are woven with wetted threads. This gives the weave a strong density and a high fineness. Typical for Bidjar carpet is the all-over repeated 'Herati' - pattern, usually with a diamond-shaped central medallion which is skilfully enclosed by a number of divided linear tendrils. Because of their strong double knots and excellent quality they are very durable carpets. They have the best price-quality ratio among the Persian carpets. Very recommendable!

Gharadja

Gharadja, ranking among the Heriz area, is a town at Ahar. Typical patterns are squares and hooking Hexagons, filled with pattern of Caucasian style. The weave consists of more rough to medium-fine Turkish knotting. Very durable carpets up to medium quality.

Ghutchan

Ghutchan is a small town in north-western Iran's vast province of Khorassan. The town itself is located just south-west of Mashad. The main colors in most Ghutchans include a rich burgundy and a deep indigo, with accents of beige, taupe, olive green, and occasionally turquoise or baby blue. Patterns are mostly geometric with animal ornaments. Ghutchan carpets are made of soft and fine-quality wool.

Heriz

The city of Heriz lies in the east of Tabriz (north Persia). Famous for old and antique collector pieces, today's Heriz carpets have usually very good quality. Typical for these carpets is the Heriz red, a pronounced geometrical medallion and stylized floral motifs. They are mainly made with Turkish knotting.

Kashan carpets are made of finest quality mostly with a tight Persian knotting. Kashan carpets belong to top-grade carpets of the country and are very decorative and durable.

Kaschmar

The Kashmar is a relatively rare carpet produced by master weavers in the province of Khorassan, in north-eastern Iran. The small city of Kashmar is very old, responsible for producing exquisite carpets for centuries. Kashmars are easily distinguishable because of their unique designs and their large size. The patterns are usually historic tableaux telling the story of a significant event in Persian history. Frequently there are views of the ancient ruins and sculpture of Persepolis, the kings Darius and Xerxes, and birds and animals from the Rubayat of Omar Khayam. Theses carpets are of excellent quality and therefore very durable.

Kirman

The provincial capital Kirman lies in the south of Iran. Typical motifs are fine and detailed vases, medallion, mirror, garden, paradise, animal and Portrait pattern. Made with Persian knotting, Kirman carpets are generally among the best and top quality carpets.

Sirdjan

Sirdjan is the main collection point for the large Afshari production area between Shiraz and Kerman. The city of Sirdjan is located in the southwest corner of Kerman province. Characteristic for these carpets are stylized and geometrical patterns and soft and tender tones. Because of their firm double knots and good wool they are very robust and durable.

Yalameh

In central Iran, slightly north of Isfahan, lies the town of Yalameh. The finest Yalameh carpets have many beautiful and warm colors and are skilfully divided into a lattice of diamonds that encloses a number of stylized geometrical animal, flower, and bird patterns. Yalameh rugs and carpets are among the best tribal rugs and carpets woven in Iran.
